Research into Mindfulness-based Interventions:
A sizeable body of research has been carried on the effects of mindfulness over the last 35 years which indicates that regular Mindfulness practice helps the body/ mind respond rather than react to stress, leaving valuable resources for taking care of our general health and well-being.
Findings from this research show that developing mindfulness has a significant positive effect on:
- Developing emotional and psychological resilience
- Managing stress
- Improving physical and psychological health, leading to less absenteeism
- Reducing anxiety, low mood and depression, leading to a happier workplace
- Improving capacity for concentration and focus
- Managing tension, anger and fatigue
- Enhancing relationships
- Enhancing leadership and team work
- Increasing vitality
- Aiding better sleep
- Developing stronger immunity
What we offer:
One hour Introductory Session: where the concept, history and science of mindfulness are introduced. This session would include short guided meditations so that people could “taste” mindfulness. There is no restriction on the number who could attend.
Two hour Introductory Session: introducing the concept, history and science of mindfulness in more detail. We would also offer longer guided meditations so that participants would have a direct experience of mindfulness. The topic of chronic stress and its effects and how resilience can be developed, built and maintained would be covered. There would be no restriction on the number who would be able to attend.
Introduction to Mindfulness Course consisting of four weekly 1.5 hourly classes:participants would have the chance to practice between sessions. Here mindfulness moves out of the conceptual and into the experiential and allows people to grapple with the difficulties that start to emerge. Ideally up to 20 people could attend.
The full 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction/Cognitive Therapy course which consists of 8 weekly 2 – 2 ½ hour classes plus one all day practice. This is the gold standard on which much of the research on the positive effects of mindfulness is based. This requires a strong commitment from the participants, as much of the work is done at home, practicing meditations guided by CD/MP3. Again, ideally not more than 20 people could attend.
Day-long workshops either on site or off site. We use a beautiful venue near Greystones overlooking the sea where people really get a chance to “switch off to switch in” allowing the body and mind time to de-stress.
Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in learning more about the above, or if you would like to discuss other ways that we can work with you.
The directors of Mindfulness.ie and members of our team have delivered a variety of tailored talks and experiential workshops, ranging from one hour introduction to mindfulness with short experiential meditations, to half days, as well as providing ongoing weekly training to a wide range of public and private sector organisations including:
