About Helen Byrne

Helen Byrne M.A. Mindfulness-based Approaches, H.Dip.Ed., Post-Grad. Dip.Psych..  Helen is a member of the P.S.I..  Helen trained as Systemic and Family Therapist with The Clanwilliam Institute in the ’90s.  She was a post-primary teacher and worked with the Visiting Teacher Service to the Traveller Community from 1997-2007.  She also worked for several years in the community and voluntary sector.

She has been practicing meditation and yoga since 1997 and teaching them since 2004.  Helen has been a senior lecturer on the  M.Sc. in Mindfulness-based Interventions since it started in UCD in September 2014.

In addition to her Masters studies at Bangor University, Helen has completed all trainings with Senior teachers – including Jon Kabat-Zinn, Florence Meleo Meyer and Melissa Blacker – at the Center for Mindfulness (CFM) at The University of Massachusetts Medical Center.

She trained in supervising mindfulness teachers with Bangor University.  Helen continues to develop her practice with regular attendance at retreats and trainings led by world-renowned teachers including Christina Feldman, John Peacock, Akincano Marc Weber and Melissa Blacker and has also attended retreats lead by John Teasdale, Sharon Salzberg and Thich Naht Hanh, among others.  She recently participated in a 14-month course in Buddhist Psychology with Gaia House and continues her studies with the Bodhi College.

Helen teaches Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction / Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and Mindfulness Yoga and Meditation.
